metal Locknut and Non-metal Locknut

Locknuts are fasteners that are used to secure a threaded connection. They are designed to prevent loosening due to vibration or other forces. There are two main types of locknuts: metal locknuts and non-metal locknuts.Metal locknuts are made from metal and are designed to be used in applications where high strength and durability are required. They are typically made from materials such as steel, stainless steel, brass, or bronze. Metal locknuts are commonly used in applications such as automotive, aerospace, and heavy machinery.
Non-metal locknuts are made from materials such as plastic or nylon. They are designed to be used in applications where the use of metal locknuts could cause damage to the material being fastened, such as in electronics or other delicate equipment. Non-metal locknuts are also used in applications where weight is a concern, as they are typically lighter than metal locknuts. Both types of locknuts are designed to prevent loosening of threaded connections, but they have different advantages and disadvantages depending on the application. Metal locknuts offer higher strength and durability, but can potentially damage the material being fastened. Non-metal locknuts are lighter and less likely to damage the material being fastened, but may not be suitable for applications that require high strength and durability.

What is the difference between metal and nylon lock nut?

Metal lock nuts and nylon lock nuts are both used to secure threaded fasteners such as bolts, screws, or studs. However, they differ in their material composition and the way they create locking action.
Metal lock nuts are made of a variety of metals such as steel, stainless steel, or brass. They typically have an all-metal construction, with no additional components, and rely on the friction between the nut and the bolt threads to create the locking action. Metal lock nuts are generally stronger and more durable than nylon lock nuts, and are commonly used in high-temperature or high-vibration applications.
Nylon lock nuts, on the other hand, are made of a thermoplastic material, such as nylon, that is molded onto the threads of the nut. The nylon insert creates a prevailing torque, which resists loosening under vibration or shock. Nylon lock nuts are generally lighter, less expensive, and easier to install than metal lock nuts, making them a popular choice for many applications.
